The SMILE project is the first large-scale deployment of smart grids in France to ensure a sustainable, cost-effective, and secure electricity supply.

The AppGrid installation is an interactive educational presentation application of smart grids serving the energy transition, territories, and customers, aimed at illustrating smart grids in the context of showrooms in Nantes and Rennes
Front-End

In the footsteps of the video games

The interactive map uses WebGl, notably the PIXIJS framework. This technology allows the graphics processor to directly process the information to be displayed to the user. The main advantage is to achieve smooth animation and movement, both on mobile and desktop, while having numerous animated elements.

These foundations derived from video games enable great scalability of the project: night mode, weather management, vehicle tracking, gameplay, etc. This allows us to easily adapt the map to other regions. The interface is designed around the tactile experience, so the user quickly finds their way around (drag, swipe, pinch).

Navigation

An ergonomics tailored for use on a touch table

The AppGrid project is intended to be presented in showrooms, where multiple viewers must be able to view the content presented on the application. With this in mind, the navigation has been designed to be used on a wall screen or touch table, depending on the needs of the showrooms in which the application will be deployed

Managing the presented content

The interface fetches content from a webservice provided by the administration module. The latter has various levels of administration allowing the implementation of multiple versions of the project. Here, a version exists for each region with its geographical specifics
